Well, when you look at it as a dirt cheap live axle RWD car that has enough room in the engine bay for a small block, instead of as a Chevette...

The same reason there are Juke enthusiasts. If the Si loses a few enthusiasts there will still be lots around. If the Chevette loses a few enthusiasts they might be the only ones. Every cars has their enthusiasts, some more so than others. For the smaller groups of enthusiasts , they keep the cars alive. They know every nerdy detail about the car they love. If they where gone, the cars would be gone.
